Buddhasavika Training

In 1992 Ven.Grandma (Ven.Voramai Kabilsingh) turned 84 years old, Ven.Dhammananda at that time was not yet ordained; she initiated the first Buddhasavika training. There were 108 women joining the training. She told Ven.Grandma that she would like to offer the wholesome to Ven.Grandma on her 84th birthday. Ven.Grandma envisioned big trees growing in the temple with yellow blossoms as a sign that the work of Dr.Chatsumarn to serve Buddhism would be prosperous.

This project provides laywomen with a space and an opportunity to attend 3-day retreat. The trainings are generally organized 3 time a year. They are scheduled over the weekend adjacent to a public holiday or a substitution day for a public holiday falling on a weekend. The project emphasizes on transferring the teaching of the Buddha, so that the participants know what the Buddhism teaches, because the current society somewhat gets confused both belief and practice. Each batch focuses on different issues depending on social problem issues. This year there will be 3 batches as follows:-

Batch 78               “To be fully a women”                                   May 18th – 21st

Also many previous candidates looked forward to going for alms in the morning. Every samaneri will have a chance to receive alms on the morning alms round. We try to keep it the way it was done in the Buddha’s time.

As a monastic you will take a communal breakfast at 7.00 A.M. and last meal of the day at 11.00 A.M. there will be drinks available in the afternoon and evening.

You will be trained to follow monastic behavior as appropriate to Buddhist culture and also Thai culture. Apart from the clothing provided as monastic, you will need no others (there will be no night gown, no fancy underwear, etc.)

As we get up early, we appreciate all candidates to turn off the light before 10.00 P.M.

Of course, if you come from the west, you will have more questions, feel free to ask.

P.S. According to the vinaya requirement, ordination is not given to those who are not Buddhists. If you are from other culture, make sure you have already been a Buddhist at least for half a year.
